Dancing Deb’s Sendoff
Debra Joy “Dancing Deb” Clark passed away peacefully in Coon Rapids, MN on March 20th 2023.
Much of Deb’s life was spent listening to music and dancing so it was fitting that her SendOff was set to music and had a dancefloor!
The Best Parts of Our Work
One of the best parts of our work is learning about the people we serve and the things they loved. Deb loved to listen and dance to zydeco music. Therefore, we needed to learn about zydeco music.
Zydeco is a music genre that evolved in southwest Louisiana by French Creole speakers and is a blend of blues, rhythm and blues, and music indigenous to the Louisiana Creoles and the Native American people of Louisiana.
Deb taught many classes on how to dance to the music and made many great friends during her dancing career. She also loved taking road trips around the country to see and experience the zydeco culture and other musical events.
On April 29th her friends and family gathered at the Wilderness Event Center in Minneapolis for a Zydeco-themed Sendoff that included live music, dancing, New Orleans food, Mardi Gras elements, and more.
Deb would’ve loved it.
Losing someone is always hard and coming together is such an important part of the healing process. We pleased to have provided her loved ones with this special experience to commemorate her beautiful life.
The family shared with us that the event exceeded their expectations and that’s always our goal.
