Brian J. Murdock

February 25, 1980 ~ October 14, 2025

Brian James Murdock was born February 25th, 1980 in Minnesota. He graduated cum laude from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Accounting.

Brian was an accomplished CPA and took great pride in his work. During his time in public accounting at Grant Thornton he gained a reputation as a transfer-pricing technician and in the private sector he was often sought out for his ability to help companies figure out complicated compliance. Brian built accounting systems from scratch for several private companies and helped create a Medicare cost reporting system from scratch for a large multi-state home health care company.

When he wasn’t working, Brian loved the outdoors. In the winter he was a member of multiple snowmobile clubs. In the summer he would be out on his boat on Lake Minnetonka or driving his AMX around the metro and was an avid member of the local AMC club. He loved music and spent his entire life building the perfect sound systems to play records. He listened to everything from Ozzy Osbourne to Hank Williams and appreciated vinyl music and everything from 33, 45 and even 78s. Of course, he loved working out and would hit the gym multiple times a day. He was a dedicated member of Lifetime Fitness and the weight room was his happy place.

Brian was beloved by his friends. He was always willing to drop whatever he was doing and help out or even just hang out with a friend. He’d drive hours out of his way to help anyone he knew move a couch, or a table, or an entire house worth of possessions. He loved his dog, Kaiser. Kaiser was the perfect companion for Brian and Brian would often use the same word to describe Kaiser: perfect. Kaiser shared Brian’s social butterfly tendencies and, like Brian, would never hurt a fly.

Brian could sit with CEOs and mechanics, lawyers and lawnmowers, musicians and body builders comfortably. He could capture their attention and give them his genuine interest. He was always friendly, kind, compassionate, and open.

Brian’s life will be celebrated with a SendOff gathering from 4-8 PM, with a time of sharing at 6 PM Friday, November 14th at Lord Fletchers – Lake Minnetonka.
