Immediate Steps after a Death Occurs

Whether it was expected or not, the death of a loved one and grief from their loss can be all-consuming. We make it our priority to ensure you have the resources you need as you navigate the planning process, and as a licensed funeral provider, we can be your first important phone call. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

If the death occurs at home:

When someone passes at home and they were in hospice care, the family should first call the appropriate hospice representative, who will then contact SendOff or your chosen funeral home. If the deceased was not in hospice, contact your local police department. At SendOff, we’re available around the clock every day of the year to take care of your loved one immediately. Call us at 612-236-0141.

If the death occurs in a supervised care facility:

When a death takes place in a supervised care facility, the staff will notify the next of kin or emergency contact, as well as the necessary authorities. If there was a plan in place for final wishes the funeral service provider will also be notified. If you wish to utilize SendOff for end-of-life services and you haven’t already contacted us, call 612-236-0141
