Siobhan K. Nelson (44), of Columbus, IN passed away on October 17, 2024 surrounded by her loving family after a battle with cancer. Siobhan is preceded in death by her step-brother, Leif Hultquist; father-in-law, Hilding Steven Nelson; and her grandparents. Siobhan is survived by her devoted husband of 15 years, Ryan Nelson; her three adored children, Violet, Greta, and Elias; her parents, Jan Tiernan, Evan & Susan Kleinwolterink; sister, Cassie Kleinwolterink; step-sisters, Lisa (Josh Samuel), and Leah (Phil Ruzzi); mother-in-law, Dianna Nelson; brother and sisters-in-law, Pete (Jennifer Nelson), Jamila (Aaron Drevlow); and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
Siobhan grew up in Eagan, MN, graduating from the School of Environmental Studies in Apple Valley, MN as well as Eagan High School. Siobhan achieved her English and Mass Communications Degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead and later moved back to Eagan, MN to attend and achieve her masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Argosy University.
Siobhan and Ryan resided in the Twin Cities at the time but decided to make the decision to begin a new adventure as a couple. They moved to Columbus, Indiana twelve years ago to develop his chiropractic business. Siobhan worked in her field as a therapist for youth and families. Columbus quickly became home to them, where they birthed and began raising their young family.
Siobhan was diagnosed with colon cancer shortly after their youngest was born. The discovery at birth gave Siobhan a standing chance at fighting the disease even though it was already stage 4. Siobhan and Ryan spent the next 5.5 years maximizing time with their children and loved ones, and lived as many experiences and milestones with their children as possible.
Through the ever loving gift of caregiving and support, their lifelong college friends, newfound local friends, and immediate family poured into the family’s home to provide unwavering support so that Siobhan and Ryan could fight cancer and were able to work in their careers as well. Siobhan indeed was reluctant to finish working as it has been such an intense passion for her and helped to balance the treatment journey with normalcy. She did finally rest and “retire” months before she took her final breaths.
Siobhan leaving our world leaves a profound void in our heart. We know she is with her Lord and Savior and forever free from pain.

Join us in Celebrating her Life and Legacy: A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in Indiana and in Minnesota.
Siobhan requests that in the spirit of celebrating her legacy, you dress in colors and styles that bring you joy and comfort.
Siobhan’s life will be honored with a celebration of life on Monday, October 28, 2024 at The Ridge, 2800 Bonnell Rd. Columbus, IN 47203. Doors open at 5 PM, with a ceremony at 6:00 PM. Following the ceremony, we invite everyone to stay for an open-house style visitation ending at 8:00 PM. We encourage the sharing of memories and stories and look forward to gathering together in community to salute Siobahn’s legacy.
In Minnesota, Siobhan’s life will be celebrated with a unique SendOff gathering at Royal Cliff Events, 2280 Cliff Rd, Eagan, MN 55122 on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Doors open at 1:00 PM, with a ceremony at 2:00 PM. Following the ceremony, we invite and encourage everyone to stay for an open-house style visitation ending at 5:00 PM. We invite you to share stories and participate in the activities as we enjoy appetizers and refreshments in honor of our beloved Siobhan.
Flowers may be sent to The Ridge or Royal Cliff Events on the day of the services.
