Frederick “Fred” Ernest Petersen
September 6, 1943 - February 21, 2023
Age 79 of Anoka. Loving Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023.
Preceded in death by parents, Ernest & Vivian; son-in-law, Paul Bruemmer. Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Janice. Daughter, Debbie Allen-Bruemmer and her children, Kayla Allen (Horacio Hudspeth), Spenser Allen; Ashley Bruemmer & Grant (Laura) Bruemmer: her grandchildren Garett, Gage, Grey Bruemmer. Daughter, Diane (Steve) Park and their children, Destiny (Jacob) Johnson, Serenity Park, Jakob Park, Ethan Park. Daughter, Catherine (Darren) Schubert and their children, Aubrey Shubert (Zachary Jones), Austin (Kayla) Schubert, Brooke Schubert; her grandchild Kalena Jones. Son, Kevin (Jessica) and their children, Jordyn, Ty, Kylie. Son, Keith (Michelle) and their children, Jack, Owen, Reid. Brother, David; Sister, Barbara Millslagle.
Fred was born in Minneapolis, lived in Champlin & Anoka while growing up, and graduated from Anoka High School in 1961. He met his wife Jan at a local bowling alley in 1964, where married May 1, 1965. Fred went on to serve in the MN National Guard from 1964-1970.
He worked for his father in the family trucking, feed mill, and agriculture business since the time he was 15 years old, Anoka Independent Grain and Feed Dealers, Inc.
Fred was a volunteer firefighter in the Anoka-Champlin Fire Department from 1965 - 2006.
Fred loved to fish and spend time at his family's island located on Lake of the Woods, Sioux Narrows, ON, Canada. He enjoyed taking road trips visiting his children and grandchildren in Florida, Tennessee, and California, and loved spending time in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with family.
Devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was always so proud of his family and loved them dearly. He was a socially active in the community and had many friends during his lifetime.
A celebration of Fred’s life will be from 2-5 PM, Saturday, June 3rd at the Mill Site, 111 Harrison Avenue, Anoka. Memorials preferred to the MN Fire Firefighters Foundation, mnfff.org, or Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org
